The Institut Médical Chrétien du Kasaï (Kasai Christian Medical Institute) was founded in 1954. Originally a hospital and nursing school at Lubondai in the Belgian Congo,  it was moved to its current location outside the city of Kananga in 1964. Over the years, the facilities and associated programs have expanded to include university-level specialty programs in Midwifery, Pediatrics and Health Administration. A staff of multiple doctors with various specialties has attracted medical students and interns seeking to do their practical rotations at the Good Shepherd Hospital. There was also added a clinic in Kananga with extensive outpatient services, a lab, maternity beds, a research center, and strong public health and nutrition programs.

Bill and Effie Rule were involved in helping to found IMCK at Lubondai. A book, written by Bill Rule, expounds some of this history and much more. If you would like to buy a copy of Milestones in Mission, please send $15 (make check) to Barbara Rule Sugue, 7120 Cresthill Drive, Knoxville, TN  37919. Postage is included in book price. All proceeds go to the IMCK Endowment Fund. Thank you!
